Abstract:

The Book (Role Models: Inspiring Stories of Indian Muslim Achievers) has been written by Shehla Rashid Shora (A well- known student leader and a social activist) in English language. It has been recently published by Penguin Random House India in 2024. In fact, this book is a collection of autobiographical writings of those Indian Muslims who have made a remarkable contribution in various fields, ranging from politics to sports, arts, literatures, academics, business, politics and social activities despite facing so many financial and societal challenges. The main theme of the book is to counter the stereotype of Muslims as a community that is “backward” or “disadvantaged.” Through this books, Shehla provides a nuanced portrayal of these achievers, showcasing not only their professional success but also the values and ideals that guided them, often in the face of discrimination or adversity. Through these stories, she encourages young Muslims to take pride in their heritage and to aspire young minds toward excellence without being burdened by negative stereotypes.
